The Pigtail Syphon is a specially coiled tube typically shaped like a pig’s tail, hence the name. It functions by trapping condensed steam or process fluid within the coil, forming a protective barrier that prevents direct contact of high-temperature vapors with the pressure measuring instrument. This coil acts as a heat exchanger and significantly reduces the temperature of the medium before it reaches the gauge, thereby protecting it from thermal damage.
